Thanks to Mr. Chau, our principal, staff and S6 Liberal Studies (Environmental Studies) students who promoted this activity to our driving staff. On 22th Sept 2009, we reduced over 70% number of cars parking in our campus.
World Carfree Day initiated by Greenpeace in Hong Kong this year has attracted support from 18,515 people including 57 organizations, 4 universities and 11 secondary schools.
The positive feedback to Carfree day shows social concern to climate change and commitment to take on changes in daily lives. In view of increasing greenhouse gases emissions especially from the transport sector, Greenpeace demands the government to implement comprehensive climate change policy and develop a true low carbon society. It is suggests the authority to draw policies which prioritize needs of pedestrians, cycling and public transport.
