Our school’s Citizenship and Social Development Department organizes a variety of activities each year. Through site visits, field trips, and hands-on experiences, students connect classroom knowledge with real-world context while deepening their understanding of Hong Kong and national development.
Visiting Tai Kwun on 1st November: 55 students participated in this activity. Revitalized from the former Central Police Station Compound, Tai Kwun received the highest honor at the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation, seamlessly blending historic heritage with contemporary art. Students toured the Police Headquarters Block, Magistracy, and Barracks Block, learning about the history of the police force and local judicial proceedings.
Organizing Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage Craft Workshop on 24th October: Guided by teachers, 30 students explored the essence of Chinese intangible cultural heritage and experienced traditional craftsmanship firsthand by creating their own handicrafts.
Visitng the Hong Kong Heritage Museum on 15th November: 36 students explored the evolution and iconic works of Hong Kong pop culture—spanning music, TV, film, and comics—deepening their appreciation of local Hong Kong culture.
Visiting the Hong Kong Museum of History & National Security Exhibition on 9th May: Students learned about the vital importance of national security and gained a deeper understanding of China’s recent developmental achievements.
From January to April, 3 groups of students took part in "Youth Impact Award" – Youth Social Innovation Service Award Competition which was organized by The Boys' & Girls' Clubs Association of Hong Kong (BGCA). Our students attended experiential workshops on elderly needs, ecology, and insects. Through Design Thinking workshops, they learned to build innovative solutions and submitted proposals to improve elderly welfare and the natural environment.
Visiting Cheung Chau Cinema on 18th April: A total of 30 students participated in this acivity. A Grade 3 historic building transformed into a cultural and lifestyle space, the venue integrates heritage architecture with the local community, giving students insights into Cheung Chau's unique culture.
Taking part in Cheung Chau Jiao Festival Workshop on 18th April: 30 students traveled to Cheung Chau to explore the origins and celebration rituals of the Cheung Chau Jiao Festival (Tai Ping Ching Chiu), learning how traditional folk beliefs value harmony between human and nature, and crafting traditional relief artwork.
Organizing "Cha Bai Xi" (Tea Art) Intangible Cultural Heritage Workshop on 6th May: 20 students learned Song Dynasty tea culture alongside a tea master and tried the technique of drawing images on tea foam with water. "Cha Bai Xi" was listed as part of Fujian’s 5th batch of intangible cultural heritage in 2017.
Organizing Glutinous Rice Ball (Nuomici) Workshop on 22nd April: 30 students crafted traditional glutinous rice balls, mastering dough-kneading techniques and the secret to thin crusts with generous fillings. Beyond appreciating tradition, they learned how innovation breathes new life into heritage.
