Expanding Artistic Horizons: Our Students' Artworks Showcased at the International Visual Arts Education Conference 2026

Our school's Visual Arts Department has always been dedicated to fostering innovation in design education. Over the past year, our Department has actively participated in the "Design Innovation" Visual Arts Professional Learning Community (PLC) organized by the Education Bureau (EDB), collaborating with fellow educators to advance the learning and teaching of Design in secondary schools. Thanks to the collective dedication and hard work of both our teachers and students, our students’ outstanding design works were invited by the EDB to be showcased at the " Hong Kong International Visual Arts Education Symposium 2026," held from May 14 to 16.

Simultaneously, five of our students (3D Fung Sui Hong, 5B Ho Koon Nam, 5C Fong Wing Kiu, 5C Lam Tsz Ying and 5D Leung Hau Tung) accompanied by Visual Arts teacher Ms. Ng, visited the Exhibition Gallery of the Hong Kong Central Library to participate in a series of core workshops at the conference. In the workshop titled "When Visual Thinking Meets Design Thinking" on May 14, students engaged in a dynamic exchange of cross-disciplinary concepts. By blending concrete visual symbols with systematic design logic, they enhanced their problem-solving skills and broadened their innovative horizons. Following this, on May 15, the students explored the endless possibilities of sustainable "biomaterials" in contemporary design through the "Eggshell Ceramics" workshop, beautifully integrating environmental concepts into artistic creation. Students also seized this valuable opportunity to appreciate the exceptional innovative design works exhibited by primary, secondary, and tertiary students, from which they gained rich inspiration.

During the exhibition, our students’ innovative design works became one of the highlights of the venue. Acclaimed scholars, industry experts, and art educators from both local and overseas communities spoke highly of our students' creations, praising their works for incorporating excellent functionality while showcasing distinct regional characteristics. Furthermore, our teaching team generously shared their daily pedagogical experiences within the PLC professional community, fostering valuable professional exchanges with peers and contributing significantly to the development of design education in local secondary schools.

Although the international conference has successfully concluded, our Visual Arts team's passion for pedagogical innovation and academic exchange remains undiminished. We express our heartfelt gratitude to the Education Bureau for the invitation, as well as to all sectors for their recognition of our design education. Moving forward, we will continue to build professional and vibrant artistic platforms for our students to shine.
