To broaden students' horizons and enhance their understanding of choral art and Chinese culture, the Music Department and the School Choir embarked on a 3-day, 2-night trip to Zhuhai from 26 to 28 June 2026, participating in the "Greater Bay Area Youth Choral Art Exchange Activity." The itinerary was substantial and fulfilling.
On the first day, the Choir attended a workshop titled "Vocal Aesthetics and Cultural Expression in Chinese Classical Poetry Choral Works." Gathering with music teachers from various primary and secondary schools in Zhuhai, our students received meticulous guidance from Ms. Chen Pan, the music director of the Jinwan Art Center Youth Choir. The workshop explored how to interpret choral works with classical Chinese poetic styles. Our students served as the demonstration choir, providing live performances. In addition, our school's music teacher, Ms. Lui Wai Ping, shared her experience regarding the training models of our School Choir, engaging in professional exchanges with local educators.
On the second day, students visited the Zhuhai Space Center, walked along the Sanzao Intangible Cultural Heritage Street to enjoy a performance of the "Sanzao Crane Dance", a national-level intangible cultural heritage, and later the Hongqi Sugar Factory for a hands-on candy-making experience. The itinerary allowed students to witness the mighty development of China's aerospace technology, appreciate the profound heritage of traditional Intangible Cultural Heritage culture, and gain a deeper understanding of how Zhuhai’s local specialties and regional characteristics drive the local economy.
The third day marked the climax of the trip. The Choir joined forces with four other outstanding choral groups from Zhuhai to perform in the "Greater Bay Area Youth Choral Art Exchange Showcase." Our students captivated the audience with four distinct songs: two Cantonese pieces, one English piece and one Putonghua piece. The songs fully demonstrate the choir's diverse musical styles. To conclude the performance, our students joined hands with the Jinwan Art Center Youth Choir to sing "Paint a Dream," carrying their wishes through song and making friends through music, bringing this cultural feast to a perfect close.
This exchange activity was a resounding success. Students benefited immensely and returned with precious memories. The school looks forward to organizing more diverse exchange activities in the future to further enrich students' learning experiences.
