To enrich students' artistic literacy, our Visual Arts Department specially organized the "CCHSS Art Journey: From Miniature Gardens to the Banks of the Nile" event series. Students visited two major museums, embarking on a captivating dialogue through time and space that bridged mysterious ancient Egyptian civilization with exquisite Chinese and foreign garden arts.
Activity 1: Hong Kong Museum of Art – A Dual-Exhibition Journey of "Blooming: The Art of Gardens in East and West" and "Live: Hong Kong Art Exhibition"
Exhibition Overview: Jointly organized by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), the Palace Museum, and the Art Institute of Chicago, this exhibition brings together over a hundred national treasure-grade artifacts. It invites visitors to journey through the Palace of Versailles and the painted realms of Monet, experiencing the architectural and lifestyle aesthetics of both Eastern and Western gardens.
On July 3, 2026, our students visited the Hong Kong Museum of Art to tour the dual exhibitions: "Blooming: The Art of Gardens in East and West" and "Live: Hong Kong Art Exhibition". This visit offered students a rare opportunity to witness treasures from top-tier museums worldwide. By contrasting the subtle depth of classical Chinese gardens with the geometric precision of Western landscapes, students significantly broadened their artistic horizons. Meanwhile, "Live: Hong Kong Art Exhibition" showcased outstanding works by various contemporary local artists, spanning diverse mediums such as ink art, sculpture, and multimedia installations. Moving from ancient garden aesthetics to modern creations that reflect Hong Kong's contemporary urban landscape and human emotions, this visual journey seamlessly blended the past and present, allowing students to deeply appreciate the inheritance and evolution of art across different eras.

Activity 2: Hong Kong Palace Museum – An Express Tour of the "Ancient Egypt Unveiled: Treasures from Egyptian Museums"
Exhibition Overview: This comprehensive tour encompassed several major exhibitions, including the "Ancient Egypt Unveiled," "Treasures of Global Jewellery from The Metropolitan Museum of Art: The Body Transformed," and "From Dawn to Dusk: Life and Art in the Forbidden City", bringing together epic collections from world-class cultural institutions, this tour invited students to explore the mystical beliefs of ancient Egypt, the craft aesthetics of Western jewelry, and the daily lives within the Qing imperial court.
Activity Review: On July 6, 2026, our students visited the Hong Kong Palace Museum. They had the privilege of participating in an educational guided workshop, which allowed them to examine historical Egyptian artifacts up close and experience the captivating charm of this mysterious ancient civilization firsthand. At the same time, by appreciating the exquisite contemporary jewelry from The Metropolitan Museum of Art alongside the imperial treasures of the Forbidden City, students successfully journeyed through the long rivers of Eastern and Western history in a single day. This immersive experience not only broadened their international cultural horizons but also deepened their appreciation for diverse civilizations and imperial court arts.
Guided Workshop
Prior to the main exhibition tour, students participated in a specialized Hong Kong Palace Museum workshop. Under the expert guidance of professional instructors, students systematically learned about the rich cultural and historical background of ancient Egypt, paving the way for a more profound and meaningful viewing experience.
The highlight of the workshop was undoubtedly the interactive session, where students had the unique opportunity to try on a replica of the famous "Broad Collar of Senebtisi."
