Jockey Club Project IDEA showcasing multisensory Arts Tech projects

Our school is dedicated in exploring the possibilities of digital art and using art technology to showcase the unlimited creative potential of our students.

Members of the Visual Arts Society participated in the "Jockey Club Project IDEA" organized by the City University of Hong Kong in the previous academic year. 1B LI YUNG WA was selected by the curators and team for her artwork that incorporated conductive ink and paper instruments. She was invited to showcase her work in a public exhibition held in the lobby of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre from August 3rd to 7th, 2023.

Jockey Club Project IDEA was funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust and organized by City University of Hong Kong (CityU). Working with arts and social welfare NGOs on a series of sharing talks by people with disabilities (PWDs), and arts accessibility experiences, students and teachers can identify the needs of PWDs in the daily lives and in arts appreciation. The project emphasises the role of Arts Tech in promoting social inclusion and showcases technology-infused artworks that are created to reflect and inform on humanistic values.

Our school is very honored to have the local renowned new media artists, Mr. Lazarus Chan and Mr. Andio Lai, conduct a series of workshops on our campus. They taught our students creative programming techniques and guided them in using software such as Arduino IDE, Processing and Audacity in their artistic creations.

The students demonstrated great enthusiasm and creativity by reflecting on how visually impaired individuals can appreciate and participate in art. They embraced the challenge of integrating technology and new media to create unique and groundbreaking visual and sound art pieces.
